Martlets Defeat AOF

We finished off a perfect 4-0 season series with Avon with a resounding win at home. We mostly dominated play throughout the afternoon, but we found ourselves tied at 1 about 10 minutes into the game after we missed numerous scoring chances and a defensive lapse resulted in a Winged Beaver score from outside the 18. We bounced back in fine fashion and took a 4-1 halftime lead, which we expanded by three in the first few minutes of the second half. For the last quarter of the game we were able to move our personnel around and gave scoring opportunities to Noah Maltby ‘28, Finn O’Shaugnessy ‘28, and Sonny Darnowski ‘28, who converted from close range to tally his first goal of the year. Others who scored included Caden Weichselbaumer’28 (2), Winston Caracappa’28 (his first two of the year after several neat misses), Rafa Rodrigues ‘28, Paul Coccaro’28 (on a penalty kick), Ryan Sun’28, and Max Zong ‘28. Sonny earned the Grit and Grace award for the day for playing almost the entire game and doing an excellent job on the back wall. Shoutout also to Henry Brooks’ 28, who conceded his turn in net to add more depth to the back wall and played well.
